Workers from a wide range of industries such as Shipyards, Engineering, Road Construction etc. are being advised by claims experts FreeClaim IDC to seek advice about possible Industrial Disablement benefits for the prescribed industrial disease Vibration White Finger. FreeClaim IDC's National Welfare Rights Co-ordinator Kath Goldsmith reported,

"Many thousands of people have claimed a lump sum payment from their former employers for Vibration White Finger as a result of using hand held vibratory tools, however many workers do not realise they could also have a potential claim against the Department for Work and Pensions which can result for many in tax free payments averaging £2500 per year."
"For example someone who is now in another occupation earning less, retired, or in receipt of non means tested benefit, may qualify for a weekly benefit of as much as £48 per week which can make a huge difference to their quality of life."

Vibration White Finger

Vibration White Finger is a condition, which is caused by the prolonged use of hand held vibratory tools such as grinders, jigger picks, needle/pin guns, and jackhammers. Sufferers will experience throughout the year, a range of symptoms including tingling, numbness and attacks of whiteness affecting their fingers. Also their ability to grip things is diminished and handling small objects is hampered by a degree of clumsiness.

Vibration White Finger advice sessions

John Chapman who attended a FreeClaim IDC advice session told of his deep appreciation of FreeClaim IDC's welfare rights workers who helped him gain what is rightfully his. FreeClaim IDC assisted with the maze of DWP forms through to representation at an Appeal Tribunal, which finally secured him a weekly tax-free DWP benefit. Mr Chapman said,

"There is no doubt that it was FreeClaim IDC's experience which won my compensation for me."

Mr Eynon, who has also gained both the weekly payment and a lump sum, echoed his views. Said Mr Eynon,

"I was unaware as a retired person that I was entitled to this benefit. It is therefore very gratifying to receive the aforementioned allowance in settlement of my claim."
