No Compensation - But Philip Is One Of FreeClaim IDC's Most Satisfied Customers...

Philip McGhee

Former Dockyard worker Philip McGhee found he was not entitled to compensation after visiting a FreeClaim IDC drop-in session, but Philip has no doubt that he came away with something much more valuable - his life. As a result of his visit to a FreeClaim IDC drop-in session at Fairfield WMC, Govan, a hospital X-ray organised for him by FreeClaim IDC revealed that he was not suffering from an asbestos related disease but was in fact suffering from lung cancer. His reaction to this news was one of total shock, says Philip,

"I fainted, I saw an angel."

Within weeks he underwent surgery and so far two further scans have shown him to be clear of the cancer. Speaking from his home Philip said that he was really grateful to FreeClaim IDC and was now recovering well and getting stronger and feeling pretty good. He added,

"FreeClaim IDC really saved my life."

FreeClaim IDC's Legal Director Mike Armstrong said he was delighted with Mr McGhee's progress saying that it was one of the best pieces of news we have heard in a long time. On a daily basis we at FreeClaim IDC see many people who suffer illness and injury through conditions that result from their work. Normally the best we can do is help them obtain compensation through the DSS in the form of weekly benefits on top of lump sum payments from their former employers. However, in this case Philip's visit to our drop-in session resulted in something much more important than money - it gave an early diagnosis of his condition, which has allowed effective medical treatment to take place.
